Decorex Cape Town boasts new features’ programme for 2019

The region’s leading interior designers and artisans will demonstrate influential décor trends through a host of new installations at this year’s Decorex Cape Town, taking place at Cape Town International Convention Centre from 1 to 5 May.

“One of the biggest drawcards of Decorex Cape Town is the innovative event installations that give visitors a range of ways to experience the current design trends and products emerging in décor,” explained Sian Cullingworth, Portfolio Director at Reed Exhibitions. “This year’s new features perfectly capture the best of the décor industry from some of Cape Town’s most dynamic creatives, all with a focus on the 2019 theme, ‘Designing for Africa – feels like home’.”

New features on the 2019 programme

The incredible creations from some of the city’s best designers will bring colour to the Designer Pavilion – a platform that supports influential African design by exposing unique talent and style. Then it’s onto The Apartment Project by SHF where the urban design trends of modern apartment settings will be beautifully reflected through SHF furnishings.

The audience will be entertained and engaged by industry experts in a number of new features, including Instudio Trend Theatre by ABSA. This free-flow, CPD-accredited forum will provide visitors with insight into everything from business and finance to colour, style and home renovation trends. Then it’s time to sit back and enjoy the interesting fusion of fashion and design as Inscape Education Group presents 2nd Skin – an exclusive fashion show featuring clothing crafted from construction materials.

Cape Town’s high-end fabric suppliers will create a colourful spectacle at the innovative Fabric Trend Bar. Visitors can source a range of textiles suited to modern interior needs. And for material of the reading variety, visitors can immerse themselves in The Library by EFAM, a comfortable literary section complete with designer coffee table books on topics ranging from décor and fashion to cooking and music.

Then it’s onto a fusion of another kind as Pete Goffe Wood (MasterChef judge and Ultimate Braai Master) teams up with Chris Forrest (Celebrity MasterChef winner and renowned comedian) for the Jacobs Gourmet Cooking Theatre built by LUSSO Luxury Living. These Jacobs Coffee Magicians will showcase the versatile nature of Jacobs coffee as they create meals with this unique ingredient in this hilarious cooking demonstration.

This year’s menu is overflowing with drink and food options, including The Harvest Table featuring 8° South where visitors can enjoy wholesome food – straight from farm to fork – in this family-style restaurant. Then it’s time to finish off the meal with a taste of the Western Cape’s vineyards at the beautifully-designed Wine & Bubbly Bar furnished by Homewood.
