“Everything that I do is about inspiring positive change and helping others believe in and realize their own greatest potential.” – Chris Bertish
South African speaker, author and ocean pioneer, Chris Bertish, will be sharing the details of his latest incredible adventure with audiences at The Premier Resort Cutty Sark Hotel in Scottburgh on Saturday, 26 November. There are limited tickets available for the launch of his new book, All In! which will include a book signing, a film screening of his latest film, Last Known Coordinates, and a Q&A session with this inspired adventurer.
“The WILDED team is really looking forward to hosting Chris Bertish as we build up to the 2023 Ocean Festival to be hosted in Scottburgh next June,” said Matt Machell-Cox, Adventure Lead of WILDED. “Having an internationally renowned adventurer like Chris Bertish coming to the KZN South Coast is awesome, and we’re excited for the local residents to watch the exclusive screening of his documentary and the launch of his new book this weekend. This forms part of WILDED’s commitment to environmental awareness, outdoor adventures and education.”
With the region home to three Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and having successfully hosted the 2022 Conservation Symposium, the KZN South Coast is a top wildlife and conservation destination. The Ocean Festival is an educational partnership with SAAMBR (South African Association for Marine Biological Research) who will be providing scientific and educational resources. This screening and launch will be the first in a series of events building up to the Ocean Festival in June 2023.
Audiences can look forward to an engaging talk by Bertish, who is renowned for shifting boundaries and shattering perceptions of what’s possible while using his stories, business, and adventures to inspire positive change. His Trans-Atlantic undertaking saw him spend 93 days alone at sea, crossing the Atlantic Ocean unsupported, 7 500 kilometres from Morocco to Antigua all the while paddling a modified Stand Up Paddle craft.
Over the years, Bertish has achieved multiple Stand Up Paddle world records – and Guinness World Records – as well as surfing giant, four-storey-sized waves. His daring actions are not only set to inspire a worldwide audience, but allow him to serve as an ambassador for positive ocean and climate change projects.
Following the film screening, attendees are invited to stay on to watch the Springboks vs England game at 7.30pm.
