Eclipse on the Bright Side

Peculiar and fun with a whole lot of fire behind its creativity is what landed Eclipse Communications two awards this November for its Nando’s Bright Side advert. 

On 4 November, the agency scooped Creative Circle’s top honours with the First Film Award and on 10 November, it won the Food & Beverage Silver Award at this year’s Assegai Integrated Marketing Awards. 

Nando’s, which is rooted in South Africa, has been the voice of the people on challenges faced in the country since its inception. When ordering a  full chicken on the Nando’s app or website, the ‘Bright Side’ campaign offered consumers the opportunity to get the equivalent number of free sides dependent on the stage of loadshedding the country was in at the time, i.e. stage four loadshedding meant consumers could get four free sides with their chicken. 

To amplify this campaign, Eclipse Communications conceptualised and executed a digital advert that finds humour in the daily power challenges while highlighting the promotion.
