EXIT: The Game – is an adventurous, exhilarating, cooperative escape room game-in-a-box where players solve riddles and crack codes to escape an imaginary situation.
If you are great with clues, love solving puzzles and enjoy group play; EXIT: The Game is especially for you. There are various unique games in the series that present an array of imaginary rooms and environments.
Imagine being stuck in a museum in Florence, unravelling the riddle of the Haunted Rollercoaster, escaping from kidnappers in Fortune City, fleeing a Cursed Labyrinth, cracking the code in Lord of the Rings: Shadows Over Middle-Earth, or, better still, sailing away from a Forgotten Island?
Imagine this: The sea is calm. The sun is shining. You’re on the perfect sailing excursion. But then, you spot dark clouds rolling in. A mighty gust of wind capsizes your boat. You are knocked unconscious. When you wake up, you are on a black sand beach. You look around and find an old book and a mysterious golden compass. A boat is chained to a palm tree. Everything on this island seems to be secured with locks… and you soon come to realise that you must figure out how to open the locks to escape. Can you solve the riddles and escape the island?
Philip Galliford, spokesperson for Solarpop, distributor of EXIT: The Game, says that each box offers a brilliantly immersive experience. “EXIT: The Game brings excitement and adventure to your living room. Each game in the series is innovative yet familiar, so there is no deep learning required, just loads of fun clues to solve,” he says. “What sets EXIT: The Game, apart from other escape room games, is that it offers a variety of puzzles. Sometimes a player needs to decipher a formula, at other times they need to search for something or physically alter a piece to solve a puzzle.”
About EXIT: The Game
Each game has its own distinct story, ensuring that players have the opportunity to explore different themes and settings. Part of what makes EXIT: The Game fun is that players don’t need to learn new rules with each game. Every box has the same types of components, and all the games follow the same basic rules.
The box includes a decoder disk, a book with an introduction to the escape room and the different types of clues, and three decks of cards. Each game is a once-off experience, as some of the components need to be altered or destroyed as players solve clues.
Every game has a difficulty level marked on the box, between novice and expert, which guides your game choice. Selecting the right level ensures that play is neither too difficult nor too easy, but just right for the group.
Solving the puzzle
There are Riddle, Help, and Answer cards in the box. The Riddle cards are the key cards as they detail the puzzles (or parts of puzzles) players need to solve to escape. The Help cards assist when players are having trouble solving the riddles.
Once a puzzle is solved, the decoder disk will guide players to the relevant Answer card. When all the riddles are unravelled, players can establish how well they did by checking the back of the game manual. The success of the escape is based on how quickly players finished and how many Help cards were needed.
