IPT’s Cobus Olwage and MediCharge’s Brian Bear to tackle Cape Epic

IPT is relishing the opportunity to demonstrate its team dynamic, passionate approach to navigating challenges, and sheer tenacity as Cobus Olwage (IPT) and Brian Bear (MediCharge) prepare to compete in the Absa Cape Epic race.

This is a major mountain bike race on the domestic cycling circuit and with 605km (16500m climbing), the description ‘2025 Untamed African Mountain Bike Race’ is fitting.

Organisers of the eight-day mountain bike stage race  have confirmed brand new stages, a new host venue and over 300km of unexplored trails. They also speak of an innovative new time trial and challenging stages deep in the race.

Never to shy away from a challenge, Olwage and Bear are eager to take on this legendary test of endurance.

They won’t be alone—or far from home. The race consists of seven stages, each sponsored by an IPT partner, showcasing the company’s strong industry connections and support for the sport:

  • Prologue – Sponsored by IPT
  • Stage 1 – Sponsored by Richfield University
  • Stage 2 – Sponsored by Securicom
  • Stage 3 – Sponsored by Trend Micro
  • Stage 4 – Sponsored by UIS Analytical Services
  • Stage 5 – Sponsored by Jacksonville Coffee
  • Stage 6 – Sponsored by Silverlight Financial Solutions
  • Stage 7 – Sponsored by Fortinet

As the world’s largest full-service mountain bike stage race, the Absa Cape Epic is a true test of resilience. Olwage and Bear are confident in their ability to tackle this demanding journey, fueled by IPT’s “gees” and never-say-die attitude.
