TCL has a lot to celebrate! According to OMDIA’s Global TV Design and Features Tracker report, TCL has been named the number one bestselling Android Smart TV brand in the world. In addition, and for the third consecutive year, TCL Electronics has been confirmed as the second-best selling LCD television brand globally, according to OMDIA’s Global TV Sets report 2021.

The report confirms that the global smart TV set shipment during 2021 was 189 million units, during which the Android-based (including AOSP/Android Open Source Project) smart TV shipment accounted for 73.2 million units. TCL claimed the moniker of the number one selling Android OS smart TV brand after the company shipped 15.1 million total TV units, representing 20.7% global market share.

Ryan Curling, Marketing Manager at TCL South Africa says, “It’s simultaneously thrilling and humbling to retain our global number two positioning as the second bestselling LCD TV brand in the world, but to be named the number one bestseller in the Android market is absolutely incredible! Locally, the South African market is becoming more and more aware of the greatness our brand is bringing to consumers and the distinctive value that we have to offer.”

OMDIA’s Global TV sets report confirms that the global LCD TV set shipment was 207 million units in 2021, with TCL’s LCD TV shipment accounting for 24.6 million units, representing 11.9% global market share.

Today, more than ever, TCL wants to push the limits of what is possible with technology and play a key role in customers’ lives by inspiring them and helping them enjoy new lifestyle experiences at home.

Over the years, TCL’s core competitiveness has grown and it has achieved solid results in a challenging market. The company has been a pioneer in the Mini LED industry since 2018, and will keep moving forward with significant technology improvements on its brand-new TCL Mini LED models, to offer a better viewing experience to users around the world. Apart from being a beloved TV brand, TCL has also successfully reinforced its multi-category range to create full connected home using the best of technology for consumers. In 2022, TCL will accelerate its domestic appliances strategy in Europe and provide a growing line-up of home lifestyle products to meet the consumers’ new expectations for healthy living and an easier life at home.

“It’s a great start to the second quarter of the year and we’re looking forward to sharing more exciting new developments soon,” says Ryan.
