Once known for his sharp wit and fearless commentary as one of South Africa’s first openly gay celebrity bloggers, Mika Stefano has always been visible. But now, he’s becoming invaluable.
Today, Mika represents a powerful shift: the rise of queer leaders who no longer ask for space – they own it. And more importantly, they hold it open for others.
Gone are the days LGBTQIA+ professionals had to dilute themselves to survive the boardroom. Now, we’re building legacies. Mika Stefano is one of the movement’s boldest examples.

From running one of South Africa’s first gossip blogs to becoming the driving force behind STRONG PR, Marketing and Events – a proudly South African agency – Mika has stepped into a new role. One he wears with both pride and responsibility: a ‘corporate mother’ to a new wave of queer creatives and entrepreneurs.
“Pride isn’t just a party. It’s a promise – to show up, reach back, and bring others forward.” he says.
Behind the scenes, he mentors, encourages and holds space for queer professionals – reminding them that they belong, not in the margins, but in the meeting, on the invoice, and in the strategy room.
But for Mika, this work is rooted in something deeper: authenticity. His belief? That your identity is your advantage.
“Authenticity isn’t a trend – it’s a tool. It sets you apart, builds trust and opens doors. When more queer professionals show up as their full selves, we create space for others to do the same. Visibility isn’t just empowering – it’s necessary.”

Mika Stefano hopes to see a future where queer leadership is no longer rare – but recognised, respected and expected. A business landscape that embraces difference, leads with empathy and understands that bold ideas come from brave spaces.
At STRONG PR, we don’t just add a rainbow to our logo during June – we live the values of bravery, creativity and inclusion every day. Whether it’s building powerful campaigns, mentoring young creatives, or pushing the industry to evolve, we’re proud to do it with Pride.
Mika Stefano is available for interviews, panel discussions and media features throughout Pride Month. Let’s talk about identity, visibility, creativity – and the future of inclusive leadership in South Africa.
