Fame or fomo? 1 week to go until Fame Week Africa 2026

From international premieres and industry deal-making to fashion runways, exclusive networking and the next generation of African storytelling, Cape Town is where you need to be.

The countdown is officially on! In just one week, Cape Town becomes the meeting place for Africa’s creative industries as FAME Week Africa 2026 brings together the people, stories, ideas and opportunities shaping the future of African entertainment.

And the question is simple: Will you be part of the FAME, or will you be left with FOMO?

Taking place from 27 October to 1 November, with the main market, conference and exhibition running from 28–30 October at CTICC 2, FAME Week Africa is bringing together filmmakers, producers, musicians, fashion designers, broadcasters, distributors, investors, content creators and industry decision-makers from across Africa and the world.

Under the theme Africa. Untold. Unstoppable., this is where African creativity takes centre stage, new partnerships begin, deals are explored and the next big stories find their audiences.

Whether you’re looking for your next business opportunity, an international collaborator, industry insights or simply want to experience the incredible talent coming out of Africa, there’s something waiting for you.

Powerful partnerships, bigger opportunties

Behind FAME Week Africa 2026 are partnerships that share a belief in the power of African creativity to drive economic growth, create opportunities and take African stories to the world.

As Super Sponsor, MultiChoice Group, a CANAL+ company, brings its longstanding commitment to African storytelling, production and talent development to this year’s event. The partnership creates opportunities for African producers to connect directly with commissioning decision-makers, including through the Premium Drama Call for Projects, where shortlisted producers will pitch their concepts to representatives from MultiChoice Group, CANAL+ and STUDIOCANAL.

For filmmakers and producers, it’s an opportunity to get closer to the people looking for the next great African story and explore how local creativity can reach audiences across the continent and internationally.

FAME Week Africa is also proud to return to its Host City, the City of Cape Town, whose continued support reinforces the city’s position as a destination for film, television, music, fashion and the broader creative economy.

With its world-class infrastructure, established production industry, extraordinary locations and thriving creative community, Cape Town provides the perfect backdrop for a week of business, collaboration and cultural exchange.

Together, these partnerships reinforce what FAME Week Africa is all about: connecting African talent with real opportunities, strengthening the creative economy and ensuring that African stories continue to find their place on the global stage.

10 reasons you can’t afford to miss Fame Week Africa 2026

1. Meet the people who can change your career

Imagine being in the same room as the producers, commissioners, broadcasters, distributors, investors and creative leaders who can help take your next project forward.

Through MIP Africa, ConnectMe matchmaking, curated meetings and networking experiences, FAME Week Africa creates opportunities for meaningful conversations that could lead to your next collaboration, commission or business deal.

Sometimes all it takes is one conversation.

2. Experience international cinema with a French twist

France takes the spotlight as FAME Week Africa’s official Destination Focus for 2026, bringing opportunities for cultural exchange, international partnerships and new connections between African and French creative industries.

The celebrations begin on Tuesday, 27 October, with French Night at FAME, featuring the African premiere of The Phantom of the Opera (Le Fantôme de l’Opéra).

From cinema to co-production opportunities, expect a celebration of storytelling without borders.

3. Get ahead of the conversations shaping the industry

Artificial intelligence, intellectual property, content financing, global distribution, music rights and the creator economy are changing how entertainment is developed, produced and consumed.

FAME Week Africa brings together the people navigating these changes to share insights, challenge conventional thinking and explore where the next opportunities lie.

Sessions including The Netflix Effect: Local Stories, Global Audiences will examine how African stories can connect with international viewers while remaining authentically rooted in their cultures.

Come curious. Leave inspired, informed and ready to take action.

4. Discover the next big African story before everyone else

From emerging filmmakers to established production companies, FAME Week Africa is a place to discover new projects, fresh perspectives and the creative voices that will define the next generation of African entertainment.

Experience pitching competitions, content showcases and conversations with the storytellers behind exciting new productions.

Among the highlights is the world premiere of 100 Ways to Stay Single in Lagos, an MTN One TV Original comedy created by Mimi Bartels, followed by an exclusive conversation with the creative team.

You might just discover your next favourite series before the rest of the world does.

5. Network where the real conversations happen

Not every great opportunity begins in a conference room.

Some start over breakfast, others at a mixer, and a few happen when you least expect them.

The programme includes the Tourism & Film KwaZulu-Natal Mixer, the Netflix Producers’ Mixer and the African Women in Entertainment Breakfast, powered by RAY Content Hub.

These gatherings offer opportunities to connect with peers, exchange ideas, strengthen relationships and meet the people behind the projects and businesses moving the industry forward.

Bring your business cards. Better yet, bring your next big idea.

6. Celebrate the women changing the creative economy

Women across Africa are producing award-winning content, building successful businesses, leading creative teams and reshaping how African stories are told.

Through dedicated conversations, industry sessions and the African Women in Entertainment Breakfast, FAME Week Africa will celebrate their leadership, explore the challenges they continue to face and create opportunities for the next generation of women creatives.

It’s about recognising achievement while opening doors for those who come next.

7. Experience fashion, music and African creativity in full colour

On Thursday, 29 October, Tastes + Threads transforms the runway into a celebration of African fashion, culture and creative expression.

Under the theme Threads of Africa: From the Streets to the World, seven fashion brands will showcase the journey from contemporary street culture to the craftsmanship and sophistication of African luxury.

Expect an experience that brings together fashion, flavour, music and storytelling, demonstrating how Africa’s creative industries inspire and influence one another.

This is where creativity doesn’t just get discussed. It comes alive.

8. Be part of a creative industry that includes everyone

The Inclusive Lens Awards, powered by EarCandy, return on Thursday, 29 October, celebrating outstanding representation of disability, LGBTQIA+ communities and diversity in children’s programming.

The inaugural Inclusive Lens Pitching Competition will also provide a platform for filmmakers with disabilities to present their projects to industry professionals and compete for development support.

These initiatives are a reminder that the future of African storytelling must create space for different perspectives, experiences and voices.

9. Fall in love with short films at FAME Shorts

From 30 October to 1 November, the FAME Shorts Film Festival takes over The Rockefeller Hotel, showcasing bold, imaginative and thought-provoking short films from Africa and beyond.

Discover stories exploring identity and belonging in Island Stories, hope and possibility in At First Light, and the strange and unexpected in Follow the White Rabbit.

On the Horizon brings romance, satire and social commentary, while And They Lived celebrates resilience, second chances and the courage to embrace life.

With themed screenings and festival awards, FAME Shorts is an opportunity to discover exceptional filmmaking talent and experience powerful storytelling on the big screen.

10. Be part of what’s next for Africa’s creative industries

Perhaps the biggest reason to attend FAME Week Africa is the opportunity to help shape what comes next.

Across film, television, music, fashion, animation and entertainment technology, African creatives are developing new business models, reaching new audiences and challenging how the world sees the continent.

FAME Week Africa brings these industries together, creating opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, international partnerships and sustainable growth.

You’re not simply attending an event. You’re becoming part of a creative community building Africa’s future.

The fame is calling… Will you answer?

“FAME Week Africa is about creating opportunities for African creatives to connect, collaborate and build sustainable businesses around their talent and intellectual property. We want people to leave Cape Town having made meaningful connections, discovered new opportunities and experienced the incredible creativity this continent has to offer. With one week to go, my message is simple: if you work in Africa’s creative industries, this is where you need to be,” says Martin Hiller, Portfolio Director of FAME Week Africa.

From the exhibition floor to the conference theatres, from exclusive industry mixers to fashion runways and film premieres, FAME Week Africa promises a week filled with opportunities to discover, connect and celebrate.

Africa’s creative industries are moving forward, and the people driving that momentum are coming together in Cape Town.

The stories are waiting. The connections are waiting. The opportunities are waiting.

The only thing missing is you.

So, what’s it going to be… Fame or fomo?
